GMS background and hierarchy

GMS (Greenwald Management System) provides one management interface for Greenwald products. This walkthrough explains its account-and-location hierarchy, reporting scope, and original role within GreenwaldPay.

Walkthrough

1. Sign in

Open GMS and sign in with an authorized account. After login, the management screen displays a navigation tree on the left.

2. Understand the hierarchy

GMS organizes managed entities into levels:

  • System — top-level administration, including users and accounts.
  • Account — groups related locations. The demo uses East and West accounts as geographic examples.
  • Location — represents an individual managed site beneath an account.
  • Devices — product-specific devices may appear beneath a location.

A system may contain any number of accounts, and each account may contain any number of locations.

3. Choose working scope

Select System, an Account, or a Location in the tree to work at that level. Available tabs and actions depend on selected entity, enabled products, and user permissions.

4. Scope reports

Hierarchy supports reporting at different levels. Run broader reports for an account, or drill into one location for site-specific results.

5. Understand GMS platform role

GMS was introduced to consolidate separate product-management websites into one interface. Recording names legacy systems and products such as FlashCash, Phone Admin, and SMS 3000, while describing roadmap to bring existing and future products into GMS.

6. Historical technical background

This is Greenwald Management System, GMS, in context of GreenwaldPay. After login, a tree view shows accounts and locations. System level provides users, accounts, and other management functions. Demo contains East and West accounts, with locations beneath each account. Any number of accounts and locations may be added.
